A true annual pilgrimage, eagerly awaited by all book lovers, the Salon du Livre de Montréal delights its visitors year after year. In 2020, it was propelled through brand new digital platforms - for once, thanks to the pandemic! In 2021, it will once again bring together creators, retailers and readers for a few days around a shared passion: books.

Objectives

For this 2021 edition, we have composed a colorful, playful and jovial campaign, with characters evolving in a colorful design made of geometric shapes inspired by Bauhaus. The backgrounds are composed of rectangles and triangles while the circles are reserved for the characters. The colors are combined in groups of 4, to maximize the contrast.

TV Commercial

This bright and colorful 15-second spot opens with our geometric shapes giving birth to what interests us most: humans and their books. By bringing together characters who share the same passion, we evoke the idea that reading brings people closer. The combination of colors illustrates the diversity, but also the different personalities and the multitude of styles of books found at the Salon.

Getting together (at last!)

This is the logical continuation not only of last year's Open to the World, but also of the events we experienced collectively. Our 'at last', which completes our theme of 'Getting together', is filled with that wriggle of pleasure, that sigh of happiness that one feels after a long wait. Getting together is to be in the same place at the same time, but also to get to know each other. Knowing others, knowing oneself. The Salon du Livre is therefore this great gathering that reaches a diverse target audience united under a common denominator. At last.

The mythical SLM poster

Designing the famous SLM poster is quite a responsibility! A true collector's item for some, this year we had to present all the aspects of the Salon without overloading the visual. Minimalist and versatile, our Bauhaus-style concept lent itself perfectly to this exercise. To make it even better, we used a unique font: Circular. The official typeface of the SLM, its round and geometric shapes remain easy to read even in vertical compositions. So, we made it take different directions, just like the Salon this year.

Website

For its website, the Salon du livre de Montréal is innovating with a platform that will evolve from an event site to a more complete and sustainable site that presents the Salon's initiatives throughout the year.

Leeroy was faced with several challenges on the mandate, including the development of a hub allowing the viewing of several video streams simultaneously, the integration of a search with artificial intelligence and an advanced filtering system to sort the programming, as well as the connection of an external database to the platform, while guaranteeing complete autonomy in case of disconnection. More than 130,000 people are expected to use the platform during the month of November.

No reading without the reader

This is why the reader is at the center of everything. Deployed on multiple platforms, both in print and digital, our friendly multicolored characters represent a diversity of reading enthusiasts who, once paired, meet around the same book; literally sharing their pleasure of reading.

A reimagined digital experience

This year's driving concept, with its bright colors and well-defined shapes, brings a fresh touch to the website. The user experience is optimized and tinged with a playful touch, so the pleasure of reading is carried online, both on the website and on the social networks.
